Choosing A Great Child Care Provider

About Me

Choosing A Great Child Care Provider

When I had a baby, I knew that there would come a day when I would have to go back to work. I was really nervous about what it might mean for my child, so I started looking around for a preschool or child care center where my little one could flourish. It was intimidating to think about leaving my sweet little one with someone who I didn't know very well, but I knew that it would be important to start the search. I began talking with different people about what they could do to help me, and I found a business that had the reputation and facility I was looking for. Faqs About Surviving The Terrible Twos

The "terrible twos" stage gets a bad rap, but for many children, it is not as bad as the parents expected. The stage is marked by a power struggle and it is important for parents to continue to set rules and boundaries. If your child is showing signs of the terrible twos, here is what you need to know.

What Causes the Terrible Twos?

The terrible twos is basically your growing child's push for independence. Since your child does not have the same communication skills and understanding of his or her emotions that you do, there will be moments when his or her behavior will be less than perfect. For instance, your c hild can easily be frustrated throughout this stage.

The behavior is not limited to at home. Your child could have emotional breakdowns at the child day care center, grocery stores, and other public places. Fortunately for you and your child, there are ways you can help your child through this difficult period.

What Can You Do?

One of the most important steps you can take is to talk to your child's teacher at the child care center. He or she spends time with your child throughout the week and has observed how your child interacts with others. The teacher also has training and experience in dealing with the terrible twos. He or she could provide you with invaluable help in determining how to tackle difficult situations with your toddler.

You need to exercise patience while dealing with your child. Remember, his or her actions are driven by a need for independence. Your child wants to learn how to navigate the world without having to rely on adults. All of this is normal and a part of growing up. Fussing or yelling at your child will only aggravate a trying situation.

In addition to this, you can focus on positive parenting. Instead of focusing on the negative behaviors of your child, praise him or her for good behaviors. You should also praise your child's efforts at being independent. For instance, instead of expressing frustration when your child attempts to get dressed and ends up doing it wrong, compliment your child on taking the initiative.

Continue to work with others, including a child's day care center teacher, such as at Carousel Of Learning Pre-School & Nursery, to find ways to help your child pass as smoothly as possible through this stage. With patience and understanding, the terrible twos will soon be a memory.
